The members of the newly formed Guyana Women's Basketball Association (GWBA) have planned a series of activities that are intended to last until the end of the year. The goal of the association is to promote the game of basketball to women in every corner of Guyana . The association currently has members comprising of coaches, officials, senior and junior national team players and is growing daily as more and more young ladies are introduced to the game of basketball.

There are a series of activities planned for the young women of Guyana during the “Guyana Women's Basketball Awareness Tour 2007” and additional activities planned for next year. The Guyana Women's Basketball Awareness Tour will consist of a series of clinics and games taking place in four locations – Georgetown , Linden , New Amsterdam and Kwakwani over a four week span in November. These games are expected to increase the awareness of women's basketball in Guyana , to expose women to the game, and to raise funds to send Guyana 's elite female basketball athletes to St. John's , Antigua in December of this year to play in the 8th Annual Gillian Brazier Basketball Shoot-Out.
